Stress Mitigation – 10 Easy Tips to Lessen Stress Generated By Your Online Business

By Article Guy On November 21, 2009 Under Affiliate Marketing

Many of us decide to work at home to avoid the many problems related to the typical nine to five job – things like an irrational boss, too much work and/or foolish cut offs.

On the other hand, we may quickly learn that home working brings its own issues.  So, how can we cope with these new difficulties?

1.  Organize A Efficient Office At Home

Be sure you have a dedicated workspace, together with all the required equipment like phone, computer, printer, fax, and so on. You will need a cosy chair and a solid desk.  You can make your office area more welcoming by seeing to it that you have lots of space, lots of light – and, if you’re a feng shui fan, have somebody come in and feng shui your space!

2.  Eliminate Pointless Tasks

Go thru your Action List and delete anything that truly doesn’t belong on the list, or anything that doesn’t really need to be worked.  Be disciplined in your choices – delete as much busywork activity as you can.  Doing so will not only save you the time you would spend trying to do those tasks – it will also minimize the stress and mental problems associated with fretting about those pointless tasks.

3.  Obtain Necessary Tools and Equipment

The right tools make any effort much easier.  Invest the cash to get the basic hardware that you need to do your work.  And, if your situation permits, spend some extra money to get the conveniences that ( while not absolutely necessary ) will streamline your business and make your life generally far less intense.

Acquire a good, automated marketing management system and let automation handle lead management and order fulfillment activities for your business.

4. Engage a Personal Assistant ( s )

Identify tasks that are simple, repetitive and not among your critical processes.  Contemplate outsourcing them to a remote assistant (which is lots more cost-benefitical than you may think).  Candidates for outsourcing include article marketing, web design, SEO, backlinking, lead follow-ups, etc.

5.  Build a Support Community

Working from home can become a particularly lonely activity.  Establish a strong support group – this may be a grouping of colleagues with whom you work together thru the Net (e.g, forums, discuss rooms ) or a local group in your community or church.  The main thing is to keep in regular contact with people who are important to you – and who can understand what you’re going through as an entrepreneur.

6.  Manage Your Ambition

Don’t look for miracles or overnite success.  Create a connection with a mentor or friend who can help you set realistic objectives and expectations – and help you stay focused when things don’t go quite the way you need them to go. An internet, or work-at-home business, is simply that – a business.  As such it requires a continuing supply of customers and products and vendors, etc.  Every one of those presents another chance for a problem to happen, skyrocketing your daily levels of stress – like the characteristic nine-to-five job.

7. Break It Into Pieces

Your great and ambitious strategies may seem inspiring, but taken in total, they can be very overwhelming and frightening ( e.g., “I want to be a millionaire” or “I wish to retire in five years”).  The smartest thing to do with such optimistic goals is to “chunk them,” i.e, break them into much smaller, more controllable parts and then create a plan to gain each of those smaller goals.

8.  Eat Well

Eat a healthy, balanced diet rich in fruit and vegetables.  Cut down on caffeine ( coffee, black and green tea, cola drinks, and chocolate ).

9.  Exercise

Working out alleviates tension, pushes oxygen to the brain, and provides a a brief interlude from stressed situations.

10.  Rest & Relax

Try to book time everyday to slow down and do something that you enjoy, even if it is just for a few minutes.

One of the great blessings of a home{-based work-at-home} business is that you are now your own head honcho – but that is also one of the largest causes of stress in your life.  You are now the one individual who wishes to choose what jobs need to be done, when and by whom.
