Causes of infertility

By Article Guy On February 8, 2010 Under Article Marketing

It seems like a miracle that any babies are conceived naturally at all once you’ve had a look this list of the causes of infertility! Believe it or not, this list is not meant to frighten you. I just want to offer you a list of possibilities so that you know what things you could try sorting out prior to going for treatment, and so that you know what the doctor will be looking for if you choose to take that route. Being informed is so very important when it comes to your healthcare, because then you find out what your alternatives are. So, begin the process of educating yourself with this list below.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

· Lubricant – Yup, you read correctly, lubricant. Various varieties and flavours of lubricant give spermies a tough time. Increased fertility might be as easy as changing your brand.

· Drugs – Your fertility might be negatively affected by a vast number of things including over-the-counter medication, prescription medication, tobacco, recreational drugs, caffeine and alcohol.

· Stress – Anxiety can wreck a woman’s cycle so it’s not easy to know when a good time for conceiving is.

· Timing – That said, your infertility might simply be the result of shoddy timing. Try to find out when the lady is ovulating and you’ll vastly increase your chances of having a baby!

· Weight – For guys, being too fat won’t help; and for women being too fat or underweight can spoil your ability to conceive.

· Hormones – You could have too much or too little of one or other hormone. This causes conditions like PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

· Scarring – If you have had abdominal surgery or surgery ‘down there’, there might be some scarring which could stop the tackle from functioning properly. Scar tissue may also be formed by illnesses and if you have fibroids in your uterus they may have the same effect as scar tissue.

· Position – Give the chaps a hand and don’t ask them to swim against gravity. Let the man be on top for a change.

· Illnesses – STDs and other infections can impact your fertility negatively so have those dealt with.

· Organs etc. – All the bits (tubes, cavities and the like) must be in good working order and if they aren’t you may struggle to get pregnant. Possible problems include things like fibroids or endometriosis for the women and impotence in men.

· Immune system issues – Sometimes the woman’s body is hostile to sperm and treats them as dangerous intruders. Just like the woman’s body might attack sperm, the man’s body might attack his own sperm too, particularly after a vasectomy reversal and civil war is never advantageous.

Women only:

· Age – Egg condition decreases rather rapidly after the age of 35.

· Abnormal cervical mucus – To be able to have a baby the mucus made by the cervix needs to be the correct consistency and there must be enough of it.

· Premature menopause – Too much exercise or eating disorders can cause the body to stop producing eggs far earlier than is usual.

Men only:

· Sperm – Who thought the tiny chaps could cause such a massive problem? If there aren’t enough sperm or they aren’t sturdy enough or able to move well then obviously fertility will be compromised.

· Prostate infections – This could also trigger infertility.

· Testes – Undeveloped, undescended or damaged testes may also cause infertility.

· Variococele – Sperm die of overheating when the veins in the scrotum are enlarged.

· Retrograde ejaculation – Sperm take a right instead of a left and end up in the bladder instead of going out the urethra.

· Illnesses – Conditions such as kidney disease, mumps or cystic fibrosis are known to bring about infertility in men.

· Environmental pollutants – Poisons such as pesticides and chemicals released by plastic that is degrading could harm sperm count and quality.

· Tight Undies – Close-fitting undies may lower your sperm count because the sperm overheat.

As I stated before, this list is not intended to frighten you, but to educate you. Once you are aware of the causes of infertility you can work out out what action to take next.
