Why Can Receiving Flowers Mean So Much?
Unfortunately a short while ago, I attended the funeral of my cousin who was only 25 when she passed away.
Now as we all aware unfortunately funerals always seem to be miserable and depressing. When anybody dies it is always sad, but when they are so young with their whole life ahead it somehow seems so much worse.
As my cousin already knew she was dying, she had already made plans that she wanted flowers from her family and she had requested that her friends donate money to her favourite charity.
Now I live down in the South of England, so I was a bit concerned about how I was going to organise some funeral flowers for her up in Birmingham. I shouldn’t have worried as the wonders of the internet worked their usual magic. I carried out a search for Birmingham Florist and low and behold I had a vast amount of florists to choose from. I find the internet absolutely vital and I really wonder how I ever got by before its invention.
As with any sort of funeral, of course it was really sad, but we also managed to have a bit of a laugh and remembered some of the happier times. My aunt was remembering the time she ordered me some birthday flowers, but they arrived 2 weeks late! Why is that families never seem to get the right date for events. It seems that without exception everything is either early or late, and nothing ever arrives on time!
It was sad saying goodbye to my cousin, but even though she had such a short life, she lived every second to the full. She had done some absolutely brilliant things in her time and quite often I wish I could be more like her.
She had tried out so many different activities whilst travelling to her various destinations. I still can’t believe how she crammed so much into such a short life. I think the thing she loved the most was Bungee jumping in Australia. The adrenalin rush she felt had been absolutely amazing. She also managed to swim with the dolphins, dived with sharks, flew a helicopter over the Grand Canyon and walked the Great Wall of China.
I know there is more I should be doing, but when you have a husband and children, and are also working, life just seems to pass you by. I think this year for my New Years Resolution I will say that I am going to take a bit of time off just for me.
