Chloramine And Your Swimming Pool

A good portion of caring for a swimming pool is to sanitize it on a regular basis. Sanitation destroys the bacteria in the swimming pool water, which makes it safe for swimming. In addition, sanitizing prevents algae from forming and growing in your pool. And lastly, It shortcuts most health problems that might result from swimming in dirty pools.

Keeping portable swimming pools sanitized is an ongoing maintenance activity. Many will test their pool water daily simply to ensure that the water is being properly disinfected. All sanitizer kits are not the same. The instructions for your particular sanitizer kit will let you know how best to test your water. It will also advise you on instructions to follow if it turns out your water isn’t clean. Keep diary records as you perform your sanitation routine. Well kept records alert you to your pool’s tenedencies and quirks and allow you to plan for the next summer.

If you’re a new pool owner, you’ll need to become familiar with what’s known as “shocking.” Shocking your pool involves adding product to your pool water to bring it back rapidly into balance.

If you’re wondering why you have to shock your pool, the answer is that shocking gets rid of the chloramine in the pool. Chloramine is a chemical created by the contaminants left behind by swimmers as they use the pool. You can test for chloramine but if you smell a strong chlorine scent as you pass your pool, that’s a good sign that your pool is past due for shocking.

Another sign that you pool needs shocking is that the swimmers are starting to get red eye and sore noses. Shocking the water will rapidly kill all the bacteria in the pool and eliminate the symptoms that the swimmers are experiencing..

Many pool experts will suggest that you shock your pool about once every week or every other week – and, of course, more often if you use the pool a  lot. Shock your pool on a regular basis, and your guests will love you for it.

A pool can bring joy to your off time. Even though swimming pool prices have come down quite a bit, you may still need special swimming pool financing in order to afford one. But, whatever the price, many new owners seem to believe that it was worth it.
