1. Select Your {Fragrance For Candle Making}
Fragrance oil can be purchased in most craft shops. You may also shop for it on the web. I would suggest that you opt for fragrance oils rather than going for cheap water or alcohol based fragrances. Your wax mix will be oil based, so your fragrance should also be oil based. Why? Well, as oil and water do not blend, the water from a water based perfume tends not to mix with the melted wax.
2. Choose Your Wax
The basics of {scented candle making} are more or less the same as for ordinary wax candles. Begin by choosing your wax type. Available in the market is a versatile range of wax beginning with naturals from beeswax, palm or soy and moving along to paraffin or gel wax. You’ll want to decide on the aromatic intensity for your candles before choosing your wax. For instance, wax with less density holds less fragrance than higher density wax.
3. The Act of Making Scented Style Candles
Let’s cover the method for making aromatic candles.
The first task is to melt your wax. I suggest using a double boiler. Which means put the wax in a small pot. Then put that container inside a slightly larger pot containing water. Now heat the H2O. You’ll need a thermometer to ensure the wax is not burnt. The temperature must be kept between 170 &180 degrees F.
When the wax is melted, put a wick in the mold & take the wax from the heat source. Next add your fragrance oil. One ounce fragrance oil to 1 pound wax will create a 6% fragrance. Be aware that greater amounts of fragrance will cause the candle to burn out sooner because it has a higher liquid density.
Now pour the melted wax mixture into your mold. The only task left is to let it the mold cool before removing your candle.
Congratulations! You’re finished!
4. Try Different Things as You Go
You will gain great expertise in all phases of candle making once you start experimenting. By using different fragrances and colors, you will perfect the art of candle making and thoroughly enjoy the process.
It’s a great feeling to gift your loved ones with a {homemade scented candle} knowing that they will find the fragrance both relaxing and invigorating.
