Rigorous harvesting makes the Dragon Well Chinese tea unique and special

Dragon Well Chinese tea, also known as Longjing tea, is only harvested in spring. Leving the tea plants to recover rest of the year gives the tea trees enough time to produce high quality longjing tea next year. This way, the tree plants are able to own good quality and be rich in minerals and Vitamin C. Tea drinkers can benefit from drinking Dragon Well Chinese tea, for example, it can provide people with minerals and Vitamin C.

Harvesting time of Dragon Well green tea is limited to the period from March 20 to April 20. The tender tea shoots and higher quality come from earlier harvesting.Dragon Well Tea has the 11 levels of qualities according to harvesting time and the tenderness of the tea leaves, and the top class is named “special grade”.  

The best time for picking Chinese tea leaves is when the sunshine is very gentle and the dew is still on the leaves, usually before 10 am. During the period between 8am and 10am, the tea leaves are very tender and have good taste and fragrant smell. As you know, the sunshine after 10 am becomes fiercer and fiercer.

Consistency and cleanliness are important. Broken tea leaves are prohibit from being chosen as tea leaves for Dragon Well tea. Old leaves, fragments, fruits, and other unwanted bits are rejected.

One bud and one leaf means one kilogram of special grade Dragon Well Tea can have 70,000 to 80,000 Qiqiangs.

A good tea picker may harvest 2 kilograms of fresh leaves in 10 hours, which are then processed into 500 grams of dried tea. It is a really tedious physical work.

Harvesting in very precise time and rigorous processes let these Dragon Well Chinese tea very unique.

It is essential to ask the time when the Dragon Well Chinese was harvested when you are going to choose good Dragon Well tea. And just do not forget to identify the tenderness of the leaves since this influences the price too.
