Candle Making Containers

By Article Guy On February 15, 2010 Under Home and Family

One of the most significant tasks in container candle making is choosing what type of containers to use.  Note that not all homemade candles require containers or containers.  Depending on the cast you used, your handcrafted candle can stand on its own with no support.

Candle making containers vary in shape, size and design.  The candle jars can come in many shapes and sizes.  These containers may also vary in material, shade and design.  If you want to create cute seasonal homemade candles, choose the jar designs that are appropriate for the season.  Patterns on the side or the rim of your containers are helpful in terms of creating a motif or a theme.

Here are some examples to demonstrate.

A candle making jar with a santa or a Christmas tree pattern on the side can be used for Christmas.  This candle can be given as a gift during Christmas.  Red candle wax when placed in a container with heart designs can be given during Valentines.  It’s safe to say that your taste in colors and designs will dictate the beauty of your container homemade candles.

Jazzing up containers is one of the best parts of container candle making.  You can be as creative as you want in spite of of your talents as a wax maker.  Needless to say, pick your containers carefully to ensure that you will always create pretty homemade candles.  Where can you obtain candle making jars?

Regardless of how many individuals claim that there are special jars for candle making, you should know that any presentable jar can contain your candle.  The best places to find jars are flea markets, garage sales and art stores.  However, if you have cute clay or glass containers at home that you aren’t using, you can use those too.

Glass and ceramic containers are more well suited for candle making compared to plastics.  If the plastic is too soft, the hot wax could melt it.  Read the following tips on how to pick candle making containers.

Choose containers that are in good condition.  Make sure the candle making jars that you choose are clean and free from scratches.  Cracks on jars will mar the beauty of your homemade candles.  Worse yet, these cracks might lead to accidents.

Chips and broken containers can have rough edges and can hurt you during handling or wax pouring.  Never use jars that have lasting stains.  The stains may transfer to your pretty candle wax.  If you really want to use a jar for its decorative value, it’s best to soak it in warm water first.  Also, take note of the previous purpose of the jar you’re using.  Old pickling jars may smell peculiar, and that scent could transfer to your candle wax.

Lastly, consider the shape of the candle container you are using.  Even if the design is good if the shape isn’t symmetrical, there is a possibility that the container could fall over when you put it on display.  You can purchase containers in bulk and just vary the shade of your wax if you’re mass producing candles for selling.
