Trendy Weight Loss Diets – Are They Worth It?

By Article Guy On January 28, 2010 Under Weight Loss Diets

Overview:

When someone is considered “obese” it is referring to an extreme amount of body fat. Odds are you have experienced the frustrations of dieting a minimum of one time in your life, if you have problems with your weight. Nearly one hundred million Americans are on a fad diet in any given year but up to ninety-five percent of them regain the weight they losewithin five years. Even worse than that reality is that one third of those who gain their weight back will gain back more than they lost, which puts them in risk of yo-yo dieting. The conventional approach to weight problems, which is depending on popular weight loss diets or appetite suppresant drugs, could leave you with the same amount of weightand the extra burden of bad health.

Today, an estimated sixty-five percent of all American adults are obese or overweight. Our society obsesses about staying slim even as we get bigger, but this is not only about looks. Obesity is well-known to be a forerunner to numerous devastating health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, osteoarthritis, and gallbladder disease. Obesity contributes to as many as 375,000 deaths every year. Also, the public health expenses for obesity are staggering. According to researchers at Harvard University, obesity is a factor in 19% of all cases of heart disease with annual health costs projected at 30 billion dollars; it’s also a factor in 57% of diabetes cases, with health costs of $9 billion for each year.

Set Realistic Goals:

No question you have probablly fallen for one or a lot more of the weight loss diet schemes over the years, promising sudden and effortless weight loss. Several of these sudden weight loss diet programs damage your health, cause physical discomfort, flatulence, and ultimately lead to disenchantment when you start regaining weight, not long after losing it.. Popular or speedy weight loss diet programs generally go on and on about one type of food. These popular diets discount the basis of a balanced, healthy diet which consists of many different kinds of foods. These trendy weight loss schemes don’t concentrate on safe, healthful or permanent weight reduction, which are the most important things.

Some of the weight loss diet programs reign supreme momentarily, only to fade out. Some fall out of the public eye because they are unhealthful and they do not work and others for the reason that the public loses curiosity. Examples of such popular diets include the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet, the Grapefruit diet, Cabbage Soup diet, the Rotation diet, Beverly Hills diet, Breatharian, Ornish Plan – the listing goes on and on. These popular diets advocate a particular procedure (such as avoiding a specified food, or consuming only specified combinations of foods) in conjunction with the fundamental concept that the body’s systems makes up the difference in energy by breaking down and utilizing some part of itself, basically changing matter into energy. This self-cannibalism, or catabolism as it is called, usually begins with the breakdown of stored body fat.
