The Smooth 5.65 Treadmill Reviewed – Does It Give the Best Value for Your Money?

By Article Guy On February 10, 2010 Under Health and Fitness Products

With this Smooth 5.65 treadmill review, we’ll highlight the best features that this model, which replaces Smooth’s popular 5.45 treadmill has to offer.  Other than the bold red color added to what was previously just a basic black treadmill, what else is there that could make the Smooth 5.65 as much of a best seller and award-winning fitness equipment as its predecessor was?

Updated Features of the Smooth 5.65

The Smooth 5.65 is still equipped with many of the primary features that the 5.45 also had. And that’s certainly a plus because this treadmill’s 20″ by 55″ walking surface, 2.5 HP motor, LCD display, and capability to reach a top speed of 10 mph and 15% incline should be enough to give any walker or jogger a good workout. But it doesn’t stop there.

The Smooth 5.65 now comes with value-added features that you won’t easily find in treadmills less than 1,000 dollars. This model is already equipped with a sound system where you can plug-in your iPod or mp3 player, 14  challenging programs that can help you maximize your workout, and a cooling fan. At 191 lbs, the machine itself weighs a few pounds less than the 5.45, but can still support up to a 275-lb user.

Some Things to Consider

As of the writing (December 2009) of this Smooth 5.65 treadmill review, there is still only one customer feedback on the Smooth website for the 5.65. And  while the user gave it 5 out of 5 stars and “highly recommends” it to everyone else, it remains that this new model still has a long way to go to prove that it can  match the track record that the 5.45 has established.

Also, the Smooth 5.65 is a treadmill that is most suitable for walkers and joggers only. The features it comes with won’t really be able to support any heavy running for a long time so serious runners who want a heavy and solid machine won’t find it with the 5.65. Smooth has other treadmills in its lineup that would make a better fit.

Cost and Warranty

For its price of less than 1,000 dollars, the Smooth 5.65 treadmill may be categorized as a low-end treadmill but that doesn’t mean it’s not as feature-packed as other more expensive ones, making it another one of Smooth’s value-for-money treadmills. In addition, it has the Smooth “Best in Industry” warranty including lifetime warranty on frame/deck and motor, 3 years on electronic parts, and 1 year for labor.

Closing Recommendations

While it may seem that the Smooth 5.45 had everything that you could ask for in a treadmill for that price, Smooth Fitness upped the ante and came up with the Smooth 5.65, a good-quality equipment that has a lot more features than the older model but at practically the same price. If you’re still having doubts as to whether this is the best treadmill that can really give you the basic fitness workout that you need, this Smooth 5.65 treadmill review says it’s definitely worth a try.
