Why SurfSpeedy vps is not recommended
VPS or Virtual Private Server hosting is heavily in demand these days because people want to have the flexibility of dedicated hosting accounts where they can manage root access without spending heavy month bills.
The whole concept of Virtual Private Servers cost cuts the bills by making it appear dedicated thanks to partitioning and virtualization technologies, but it is actually part of a shared hosting where there are other partitions managed by other customers of the web hosting. Good system specifications are required to make this type of hosting reliable and SurfSpeedy strives to bring that to the table ending up with mixed results.
About SurfSpeedy Hosting
SurfSpeedy provides not only Virtual Private Server packages, but also cheaper Virtual Dedicated Server packages which work similarly to VPS, but run on different virtualization software. Both packages run on software by Parallels with VPS using Parallels Virtuozzo Containers and VDS using Parallels Sphera. In addition to these plans, standard shared web hosting plans are also available including a shared reseller plan.
Pros
The boast of SurfSpeedy are the prices – although they start at $39.95 a month which is a little bit more than some of the respectable VPS providers, the lowest plan offers good RAM to hard disk space ratio with 256 MB RAM and 40 GB space. The specs can be multiplied for a little bit more than double the cost or triple the cost for the best VPS plan and all equally have decent security features. Another advantege is the clear layout of the tables containing all the features.
Cons
One of the biggest current problems of SurfSpeedy is the poor support that they have been giving to customers these days. It is first noticeable with the billing system which may require you to contact their support team constantly just to get updates on billing statements. Unfortunatelly, they limit their support times to 9:00am to 9:00pm EST. E-mails are usually responded after 48 hours and quite often do not offer solution to the problem. Some reviews speculate these problems occurring right after Jumpline took over the service.
Their reliability is far from the one of other hosting providers with downtimes lasting from 5 to 20 min possiblly leading to a couple of hours. Database information can even be lost and combined with the bad support, it is already risky using this service as a solution for highly secure business sites.
It’s quite probable that SurfSpeedy handled these problems, still customer support remains their real flaw. They deserve some credit for their wonderful and affordable packages, still delayed responses together with poor handling of problems takes it away from the list of Top VPS solutions. SurfSpeedy may deserve a second look if they update their website or revise thir support system in a way that would upgrade their reliability. Until more positive reviews appear, better stay away from SurfSpeedy.
