Is An Out Of Body Experience Real?

By Article Guy On February 25, 2010 No Comments

For centuries, human beings have experienced a state in which their spiritual body is freed from their physical body, and thus, able to explore the outermost regions of space and time. This is called the out of body experience, or, OBE for short.

Some of the characteristics of this experience, sometimes called astral projection, include feelings of weightlessness, a sense of being free from physical limitations, and being able to look at one’s own physical body from a multi-dimensional, external point of view.

Individuals who discuss their out of body experiences typically indicate that these occasions occur immediately after a traumatic event (physical, emotional, mental or a combination of the three), after having an experience with drugs, or after self-inducing the state through meditation followed by undertaking a series of specific steps in the proper sequence.

Out of body experiences are distinctly not dream events; they differ in that they are conscious states of awareness, often quite vivid, that unfold in real time. Dreams are the concoctions of the subconscious mind and may or may not appear to be real. Individuals who have had out of body experiences typically say that during the state, their senses are heightened and they possess additional levels of awareness beyond their usual physical senses.

People who report out of body experiences feel as if their spirits or souls take on another form in addition to their physical bodies, and that this spirit – also called the astral body – is then free to visit different dimensions, different times, and to even encounter loved ones who have passed on to the other side.

For this reason it’s easy to see why many individuals actively pursue the out of body experience, whether in search of answers to the unknown questions of the world such as ‘what happens after we die’ or ‘how big is the universe?’ or simply to reconnect with a friend of a relative with whom one has business yet unfinished.

It’s important to also note out of body experiences happen to people from all walks of life, all cultures, and all ages. Some are hesitant to say that they’ve had an out of body experience for fear of religious repercussions, but evidence of such experiences has been documented in religious scriptures throughout history, from various ancient Native American oral traditions to the Christian Bible.

Though mostly practiced by those open to new age thinking, seeking an out of body experience is in fact a very old tradition for personal enlightenment and betterment.

It is somewhat surprising to learn just how frequently people report having out of body experiences: approximately one out of every 15 individuals experiences some type of OBE. People have out of body experiences under almost any circumstances, from something as relaxing as sleeping to being in the middle of stressful or violent situations such as accidents or imminent accidents. The explanation for this wide range of situations is simply that people are different and respond differently under various circumstances.

Reports indicate that a vibrating feeling is common in out of body experiences, as is the feeling that the physical body suddenly becomes extremely heavy. Many think that these feelings indicate the separation of the soul or spiritual self from the physical body, thereby enabling the spirit to travel throughout the astral plane.

Some people who are not familiar with the concept of the out of body experience fear that if their spiritual self separates from their physical body, it may not be able to re-unite. Experts suggest, however, that a permanent link exists between the spiritual and physical selves, and that this is particularly the case with people who are sufficiently self-aware to induce the state on purpose. Because it is not believed that the spirit can somehow become trapped outside the physical body, there is very little reason to fear having an out of body experience.

Having an out of body experience is more common that one might think, and has been a part of human life across the cultural spectrum for centuries. It has long been considered a method for gaining personal understanding and enlightenment for the world and universe that surrounds us.

Opportunities for growth are before us. If only we can quiet our minds long enough to permit our spiritual selves the freedom they crave, we can grow in personal insight and advance technology in areas that are far beyond our physical consciousness. Personal study and practice is the path that leads us through the process of unlocking our personal potential and spiritual awakening. That path is before us. We need only take the first step.

Really Believe You Can Use Your Power Of Subconscious Mind

By Article Guy On February 25, 2010 No Comments

Have you ever heard the saying ‘What you believe, you can achieve’? The power of your subconscious mind is easily the most powerful tool you’ll ever encounter. Everything you do or say or dream originated within your subconscious mind. Some people are able to conceive an idea within their minds and then manifest those thoughts up to a conscious level.

Think about what happens when you automatically change the channel on your television. You think about it, and then you do it, but do you ever have moments where you do that entire set of motions without thinking about it? You might never have noticed but the truth is that you definitely do it! Consider how this subconscious mind power activity works and how you might have used it.

Let’s consider how you might get to the place where you are changing the television subconsciously. Consider the fact that a commercial that you don’t like came on, and you were irritated enough that your subconscious brain decided to take over. It’s true that the power of your subconscious mind has a real effect on the way that we act and what we do. Consider the kind of training that you have given yourself!

If you could really harness the power of your subconscious mind, you’ll find that you are going to be able to take advantage of your full potential. While we are often told of the dangers that lurk in our subconscious, the truth o the matter is that that is far from the only type of thing down there.

Training your subconscious mind is much easier than many people believe. It’s much deeper than just wishful thinking or day dreaming and a lot more powerful. Learning the simple processes required to activate the power of your subconscious can be achieved in several ways.

The easiest way to get your subconscious working to bring about positive changes in your life is using affirmations. Affirmations are a direct reminder of positive aspects of life, repeated to help you achieve a desired result.

Think about a task you really didn’t want to begin. You would immediately have begun to feel tired and look for other things to do instead. Inside your mind, your thoughts would be telling you that you don’t want to do that, or that you should be working on something else. This is a subconscious stress reaction and it drains your energy automatically in response to a task that is counter-productive to achieving those things you really want.

Using affirmations can help you to find the benefits of each task so the automatic response changes to become positive as you tackle it with new strength. The right affirmations can reinforce in you that you’re the right person for the job. No one can do it like you can, and completing that task will lead to bigger and better opportunities.

You can use affirmations to change other habits. People have used them to stop smoking and drinking, and to cut back on eating to lose weight. Many people have used affirmations to improve job performance, boost confidence and win over new clients. Even science has shown that this works, through behavioral studies.

Other ways to tap into the power of your subconscious mind include hypnosis and post hypnotic suggestions. More than the scenario of the Manchurian Candidate, hypnosis is a way to program your subconscious to do things for you. Consult with a hypnotherapist to see if this is the right avenue for you to use.

You may also want to think about what kind of value that you can get out of brainwave synchronization or binaural beats, which involves listening to specific sound frequencies over a pair of headphones. These frequencies are slightly different from each other, forcing your the two hemispheres of your brain to collude. You will enter a deeply meditative state and you’ll find that your conscious self can communicate with your subconscious mind.

Buddhist monks utilize the full power of their subconscious minds to display mastery over themselves and on occasion even the environment around them. Able to break items without pain or levitate their physical bodies, this is achieved after years of mastering their own subconscious powers.

When you are ready to use your subconscious mind, you’ll discover that you can actually move matter on a subatomic level. This process is explained in media like The Secret, where the law of attraction is laid out for you and where it can show you how to focus your energy. Remember that you do not need to merely think about things that are only theoretically possible; you can manifest whatever you want if only you are wiling to put thought into it and to communicate with your subconscious mind.

Though it sounds hard to believe, you’ll find that quantum physics is doing a lot to prove what ancient religions are talking about. All of this supernatural or psychic power can be explained using some very logical, scientific means.

Your subconscious mind is a lot more powerful than you might have ever thought possible. Don’t underestimate it, and don’t overlook the benefits of using it. Not only can you change the way that your life is going, you are going to be able to change the world around you!

Astral Projection The Beginners Guide

By Article Guy On February 23, 2010 No Comments

The process of astral projection is a natural ability with which everyone is born. In fact, many people actually do it without even being aware of it. Our aim however should be to astral project while were physically conscious, thus allowing ourselves to control what your astral body is doing.

While this article is an attempt to help people learn how to astral project using different techniques, you should keep in mind that astral projection is a personal experience so ideally, you need to apply a technique that works best for yourself. Furthermore, were taking the liberty of assuming that you are already familiar with the meaning of astral projection.

The first technique in learning how to astral project, is one that you can do when you’ve gone to bed for the night. Let’s break it down into five steps.

*Your first goal is to initiate a state of adequate relaxation by relaxing your entire body. In order to reach this state of relaxation you need to be lying down and then, starting at the lowest point which is your toes, tense each muscle and then relax it again. Once youve finished doing this with your toes, you do it with you feet, then your lower legs, then your thighs and so you continue upwards until you eventually finish with the muscles in your face. If at this point you feel your body is becoming heavy, do be alarmed at all as this is exactly what should be happening.

*Second Focus on your breathing. Take deep, slow breaths and concentrate on the feeling of the air filling your lungs. Exhale slowly, visualizing your tension and stress leaving your body each time you exhale.

*Third Focus on the relaxed, heavy way your physical body feels. It probably feels like a heavy lump of clay or a slab of stone. Now turn your focus to the way that your astral body feels weightless and able to float free of your physical body. Imagine your astral body drifting upwards from the bed.

*A large percentage of people attempting to astral project claim that in this stage, they see the whole room theyre lying in, in spite of the fact that their eyes are closed. Additionally, in most cases it seems, people claim that there appears to be purple light, or at least, a purple glow filling the room. If youve reached this point then the next thing you need to focus on the light fitting in the centre of the ceiling.

*Continue concentrating on the light fitting and then mentally, slowly start to pull it towards yourself on the bed. At this point you should start feeling as if youre starting to float. At this point its tantamount that you do not allow yourself to fall asleep because by now you should be absolutely aware that youre floating and in all likelihood, it may well be possible to turn around and see your physical body still lying on the bed.

Once you reach this stage, you have consciously astral projected for the first time. Now you’re ready to astral travel. Here’s another method if the above doesn’t seem to work for you.

This one is known as the gazing technique and it’s actually quite simple. Choose an object which you can see while you’re lying in bed and focus on it. It doesn’t matter what this object is, just make sure that it will be within your line of sight while you’re lying down.

Gaze at this object and stay focused on it. Eventually, your eyelids will become too heavy to keep open but if you’ve succeeded you’ll still be able to see this object in front of you. Continue to gaze at it until you feel an urge to stand up. When you do, you’ll see your physical body lying in bed asleep! Don’t be alarmed; this means you’ve succeeded and can begin to astral travel.

If youre really serious about learning to astral project, you need to understand that these methods arent always successful on your first attempt. In all likelihood you may not even be successful with your second or third attempt either but if after that they still dont work, dont give up because there are still other techniques so simply try again using a new method.

It’s not really all that important how you start to astral project. Whatever works for you is great; the important thing is to let your subconscious mind know that it’s OK for your astral body to depart to travel the astral plane and that there’s nothing to fear. One way you can get this message across to your subconscious mind is by using affirmations.

There do exist some shortcuts to becoming able to consciously astral project for those who might not have the patience to try over and over until they get it right. These should enable you to astral project on just your first attempt or second.

Hypnosis is perhaps the most powerful tool available as it gets you into an ideal state relaxation. Additionally, a really good session will also enable you to grasp and accept the principles of astral projection when you experience it.

New audio technologies called binaural beats can also help you learn to astral project. These specially designed recordings consist of slightly different frequencies played into each ear. The effect of these recordings is to place the listener into the meditative, deeply relaxed state where astral projection comes naturally.

Everybody is born with the natural ability to astral project. Techniques and tools such as affirmations and hypnosis simply offer a little assistance to those who struggling to learn.

A Guide to Astral Projection

By Article Guy On February 23, 2010 No Comments

Astral projection is often thought of as “mystical”, but in fact just about everyone has the ability. In fact, lots of people experience astral projection unaware. So the trick sit is to have control over it and do with it what you want to do.

Let’s assume that you are already familiar with the astral plane and you know what astral projection is. The purpose of what follows is to tell you about a few different ways of how to astral project. If you know which methods work best for you, you can know the powerful experience that is astral projection.

*Now you will slow down and deepen your breathing as they do in meditation practices. Consciously breathe in deeply and slowly and focus your attention upon the way the air feels as it comes into your lungs and descends into your diaphragm. Now exhale slowly and deeply, focusing your complete attention upon the air leaving your lungs, your nostrils, your mouth. But if you feel yourself drifting off to sleep, focus your attention on the middle of your forehead instead as you breathe.

*After several of these breathes, begin thinking of how your body feels, which should be like a heavy slab of clay and difficult to move. Once you sense that you feel this way, shift your attention into your astral body, which is weightless and free, nothing like your physical body. Close your eyes and envision your astral Self, a feather in the wind, or a luminous bird.

*Fourth Now you may have the experience of being able to see perfectly well in your darkened room which should now be illuminated by a purple light even though your eyes are closed! Turn your attention to the light which is coming from your ceiling.

*Envision yourself pulling the drawing imagine that you are pulling the ceiling light into you. As you’re doing this you might well get the sensation that you’re floating. If you feel this, you can likely look “down” at your own physical body lying still on the bed.

Of course, you must make sure you can gaze at the object as you lie in bed. Now, essentially you’re going to stare at this object. If you feel your attention wandering, bring it back to the object. You should soon begin to feel your eyelids getting heavy. Just keep staring; eventually your eyes will close but you should still be able to see the object as if your eyes are still open. Don’t turn your head; keep “staring”. You’ll come to a point where you want to sit up or stand up, and if you feel yourself do this don’t be alarmed if you can see your own physical body lying asleep on the bed.

You may need to practice these methods several times over before you start getting results, so the important thing is to never give up. If you let yourself grow frustrated or anxious this will only interfere with your ability astral project.

It should also be said now that ones subconscious mind is perhaps the single biggest hurdle in your road to successful astral projection, irrespective what techniques or tools you decide to employ. In order for you to be able to successfully astral project, your subconscious mind has to be convinced that its perfectly acceptable and natural for your astral body to leave your physical body. A highly effective tool available for doing this is by means of affirmations. Once your subconscious has adjusted and learnt to accept the concept, astral projection is very easy.

Plenty of techniques can help you learn how to astral travel; you’ll find the right one for you with a little practice and possibly some trial and error.

One of the shortcuts is hypnosis. A good hypnotist can tell you what you are experiencing as you enter into the right state of mind, so you don’t have to worry about what you “should” be experiencing.

The recently developed sonic technology of “binaural beats” can also program your subconscious mind to be deeply relaxed and let down the guard against astral projection.

Once again, astral projection is actually not difficult–it’s a natural capability born into you. You just need to use the right tools to get it done, and then you can astrally travel the cosmos!

Lucid Dream Technology Revealed

By Article Guy On February 23, 2010 No Comments

You have heard about people who lucid dream and think it is something you would like to do. That is a good starting point but exactly how do you begin and what are the steps to being a successful lucid dreamer?

So, what is so good about being a lucid dreamer? What would you gain from it? In order to understand the advantages of being aware when you are dreaming, we need to examine what regular sleep actually is.

How is lucid dreaming different? Have you ever considered the process of sleep before? Every night you make preparations, crawl into bed and go to sleep. You may have dreams or nightmares or all may just be dark for a few hours, it is rather boring isnt it?

The human body has a built in requirement for sleep. It rests the body so that we are prepared to continue our lives. Without it, there is strong evidence for insanity. That is all well and good but there is nothing saying we cannot control certain aspects of sleep is there?

What if you could control your dream rather than the other way around? A lucid dreamer is someone who can do exactly that; someone who is not a passenger but a driver of their dreams.

All well and good, but how exactly do you become a lucid dreamer? There are two ways of accomplishing this goal. The first method is to have a dream-initiated lucid dream, or DLID. This is where the dreamer becomes aware that they are in fact dreaming and begins to take control over the dream.

The second method is to have a wake initiated lucid dream, or WILD. In these situations, the dreamer goes from awake to lucid dream with no change in consciousness. The dreamer simply begins dreaming without having the sensation of falling asleep.

So how are these types of lucid dreaming induced?

Dream Recall

A simple place to start when you would like to lucid dream is in dream recall. This is where you can remember and perhaps recite your dream in part or in whole. You are very likely to have the same dream more than once in your life and being able to remember them will alert you the next time you have that particular dream.

To make dream recall easier you can keep a dream journal. This is a notebook or pad of paper that has the sole purpose of recording your dreams. Whenever you have a dream, you should write all you can remember in the journal as soon as you wake up. The longer you are awake the more details of the dream that will be lost.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

Dr Steven LaBerge is a leading scientist who studies lucid dreaming. He was the founder of MILD. This method involves telling yourself you will remember your dreams or perhaps an object in the dream. When you see the object while dreaming it will trigger your mind into knowing you are in a dream.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

The way you do this one is, only plan on sleeping for a few hours like five or six. Set your alarm if you need to so you will wake up. After you have slept the few hours and wake up, stay up. Find something to do to stay awake. Do a little house work; Think about what you might like to do in your lucid dreams. Return to bed in an hour.

This technique of learning to lucid dream has a sixty percent success rate according to Stephen LaBerge. You have waked up during the dream cycle of your sleep which is referred to as REM. This is like a trigger telling your mind that you want to be aware when you are dreaming.

As the name suggests this technique is all about cycling your sleep. Go to bed at your normal time but for a week set an alarm to wake you one and a half hours early. You should continue to do this for around 7 days. Once your body has settled somewhat into this routine, begin to alternate your wake up times. One day normal, wake up time the next early, on your normal days you will be trying to wake up early and should increase lucid dream chances.

Daniel Love came up with this way to accomplish lucid dreaming. Start getting up an hour and a half earlier. After you get used to this, go back to getting up at your usual time. Since you are used to getting up earlier but dont have to now, your mind is still thinking you are awake, therefore you will be more likely to be aware in your dream.

Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)

To get into this correct frame of mind if you will there are a few tricks you can use. Focus seems to be key so try to focus your mind on things like your breathing, counting, perhaps chant or meditate. In a way, you are practicing self-hypnosis. Use this technique when you are not extremely tired, perhaps during a late nap.

You need to stay aware; it is a lot like self hypnosis. This is not a good exercise to try when you are tired as your mind may not stay as aware. Try to focus on things that require brain activity such as doing math puzzles, jogging or anything to keep your mind active. Breathe evenly and focus on relaxing every part of your body.

The sounds bring the two sides of the brain in synch. Your brainwaves are then converted to REM waves the time during sleep when you dream and the frequency at which lucid dreams occur.

With self-hypnosis and a conscious preparedness before you go to sleep anyone can practice lucid dreaming.

Binaural beats induce lucid dreaming by causing the hemispheres of your brain to work synchronously, making your brainwaves shift to the frequency required for lucid dreaming.

With a combination of self affirmations, self hypnosis and binaural sounds, being a lucid dreamer is something anyone can do successfully.
